Does My Child Need Speech Therapy?
Do You Have Any Of These Concerns?
Trouble forming phrases/ sentences
Difficulty forming simple sentences or using correct grammar by age 3 may be a sign of an expressive language delay.
Stuttering/ repeating sounds
Frequent repetition of sounds, syllables, or words (e.g., “m-m-mommy”) can indicate stuttering.
Limited vocabulary for age
Limited vocabulary hinders a child's ability to express thoughts and needs, often leading to frustration. By age 2, children typically use at least 50 words and begin combining them into phrases.
Difficulty interacting socially
Is your child having trouble connecting with others? Difficulties with eye contact, engaging in play, or understanding social cues can indicate a need for support with pragmatic language skills.
Difficulty following instructions/directions
Difficulty following simple instructions by age 2 may be a sign of a receptive language delay.
Difficulty saying sounds clearing
While some mispronunciations of sounds are normal, persistent errors can indicate a speech disorder.
